Everyone prefers different ways of exercising and of course, walking and hiking are excellent ways to get out there and enjoy. As you just heard, during the adaptation phase it's best to do fewer cardio activities. If you don't it may be more challenging to adapt to ketosis. Treat this time as a way to nourish your body and plan out which activities you'd like to rev back up after your body is more accustomed to the keto diet. Otherwise, you could suffer from burnout because your body will be changing so much that exerting too much energy on high-intensity workouts could do you more harm than good.
That's not to say you shouldn't exercise at all, but exerting caution and being kind to yourself and your body while adjusting to the diet is important so that you succeed. Over time you can implement your cardio activities once more while excelling on the keto diet simultaneously.
